Special General Meeting - May 3rd, 4pm, at the Clubhouse
With the close of the summer surf season, we are looking forward to the winter pool season - training for the pool rescue competitions organised by Surf Lifesaving New Zealand.
This is not a learn to swim programme and there are minimum expectations. The core skills that our participants learn are based around rescuing techniques while racing in the pool. It's a whole heap of fun and a great way to maintain fitness over the winter months.
The details....
The start of winter sports also means the beginning of winter pool season. This year the training will move to Sunday afternoons to try to eliminate the clashes with Friday night basketball and soccer.
We will have 5 lanes available to us at Dudley Pool between 4.30pm and 6.30pm, beginning on Sunday 11 May.
To enable the coaches to plan out the sessions and lane space, registrations will have a cut off date of Sunday May 4th. Can you please ensure that you have returned your completed registration forms to me before this date.
For our senior (U15 and above) athletes, if you wish to be coached for the pool rescue events then you will need to guarantee that you will compete in at least two competitions. If you cannot commit to this, then a general lifeguard fitness lane will be available for you to train in for an hour each week. The coaches will provide a suggested swim fitness training plan that you can follow if you wish, but this will not include any specialised manikin training.
Please indicate in your email when you return the completed form which option you will be taking, and if you will NOT be competing, in the section where you agree to pay the fee, please write "swim fitness only"
Please email andrea.wbslsc@gmail.com to fill out the registration form ASAP, or if you are unsure please get in touch to discuss if the training is suitable for you or your child.
We look forward to seeing you in the pool!
